TRAMOYA
El Arco Azul – Studio (Madrid, Spain)
Feb 20 – Mar 4, 2023
Tramoya, is a joint, site specific exhibition at El Arco Azul Studio, Usera, Madrid. The project’s aim was to strengthen ties between visual art groups in Madrid’s outlying neighbourhoods and in doing so, contribute to decentralising the city’s cultural activity.
The David Magán Studio participated as “guest artist”, with the installation Dual Space 01, alongside El Arco Azul Studio residents: Lisa Anzellini, Nicolás Bonilla, Basilia Guadalupe, Kmilo Morales, Luisa Ordóñez, Role and Marina Tellme.
Magán’s investigation centres on the materialisation of light onto different supports. Dual Space 01 results from this research. This line of work, simultaneously coexists with his more “traditional” geometric formalism. This binomial work approach results in a complex balance between generated elements and elements that generate.
To maximise media exposure, the show was held during Madrid 2023 Art Week, simultaneously to Spain’s principal art fair ARCOmadrid.
According to the exhibition’s curator, Claudia Pérez: The Calle Pilarica studio is no longer just a container for works, it has become a point of departure for the artists working there. […] each piece is a kind of site-specific construction, whose staging, although perpetuating the author’s identity has a lot to do with agreement and collective dialogue.
