DEDELMU. Liquid Stage
13th Havana Biennial (Cuba)
Apr 12 – May 12, 2019
Capturing the viewer’s attention and perception is fundamental to Magán. He wants to take them beyond their daily routine, so that they can concentrate on analysing and understanding a small part of the world: a concrete world proposed by the artist. Nothing could be more appropriate than a public space, especially a lively and social space like Havana’s Malecon.
T-3C36 is a monumental work specially designed for outdoors. It belongs to a series of works articulated on a stainless steel tube structure. In this case, there are three frames that intersect in each of the three dimensions. From the resulting structure, 36 triangular surfaces are suspended in 4 elementary colours: orange, yellow, light blue and dark blue.
The resulting construction is born, and only makes sense, from the study of the possibilities of the transparent plane –with colour– in space. A kaleidoscope of shapes and colours that takes the spectator on a journey between two worlds: the purely volumetric / sculptural and the ethereal / pictorial.
A highly variable and dynamic work is created depending on the angle from which the work is viewed, the arrangement of the modules in space, their inclination and the range of colours used. The piece invites the spectator to walk around it and discover and understand how it is constructed. In this way, the viewer’s movement constitutes an essential part of the work.
Editorial La Fábrica has published an extensive catalogue of the “DEDELMU, Liquid Stage” project.
