Chromatic, is a project of the Dados Negros Holography and Arts Centre; other participating artists included: Waldo Balart, Beatriz Castela, Roberto Chartam, Daidoo (Bartolomé Ferrando e Irene Ferrando), Gustavo Giménez, Tomás García Asensio, Cristóbal Povedano, Nieves Correa y Abel Loureda.

In the fine arts, especially painting, the term chromatic refers to that which is related to colour and comes from the Latin chromateste, derived from the Greek word chroma, meaning colour. Chromatic Art ⎼also known as “The Historical Vanguards”⎼ encompasses artistic styles that emerged in the first half of the 20th century. They offered a radical re-creation of art, abandoning classical schemes and promoting a vibrant sense of the present and a desire to break with the styles of the past. The avant-garde movements advocated a “more than just the aesthetic” angle on art, abandoning the imitation of nature, to focus on the language of form and colour, and thus opening up an era of experimentation with new ideas and artistic techniques.  A number of Constructivist and Concrete Art artists were working simultaneously in graphic design, creating completely abstract works with geometric constructions in bright colours, especially for posters. Their proposal was so powerful, its eruption so impressive, and its development of the plastic arts so profound, that more than a century later it remains a paradigm of innovative art.

David Magán participated with two of his most characteristic series: his light paintings called Binaries and his assembled sculptures made with acrylic.
