Catalogue published on the occasion of David Magán’s solo exhibition “Primary Interferences” at the Tomás y Valiente Art Center (Fuenlabrada, Spain), which took place in 2016. The catalog includes a critical text written by Gabriela Salgado and entitled “The Three-Dimentional Magic of Physical Color “.
“The aim of David Magán’s solo exhibit at the CEART is an exhaustive exploration of the possibilities of sculpture, with attention to its essential relationship with space.”
“The seven works presented in this exhibition are of varied formats and are all based on modularity, as if the artist were attempting to achieve the maximum spectrum of chromatic and visual interferences by means of sheer volume. Whether we consider the wall-based reliefs the columns, the floor-based objects, or those poised on plinths or suspended from the ceiling, we find a common denominator: in every instance, form is deconstructed and reinvented playfully by virtue of the behavior of color.
“His interest in the interdependency of art, space and body reveals an affinity to minimalism and to architecture, and it constitutes the fundamental axis of his methodology. ”
